Top 10 Essential Mac Apps

Having used my MacBook for just over a week now, I have compiled a list of what apps I have found I can’t live without…

Some of these applications are available cross-platform so even if your a Windows or Linux user you should try them out!

  1. Firefox 3 – Quite simply the best around
  2. iWork ’09 – Like Word, Excel and Powerpoint – Only simplier and better
  3. VLC Media Player – Quicktime that plays anything…
  4. iSquint – Anything –> MP4 convertor – useful for iPhone/iTouch video conversion
  5. Audacity – Essential for editing music / sound clips
  6. Filezilla – The best FTP app I have found around – works on all 3 platforms
  7. GIMP – Free image editing software, works better web based systems and is free. Don’t bother buying Photoshop!
  8. Flickr Uploader – Essential for me to upload my new photos in a flash (Java Based – Cross Platform)
  9. Toast 10 – Although iDVD is good, this is better…
  10. iChat – It supports GoogleTalk video chat – so I am happy :)

Obviously everyone has opinions on there own favourite software and I will be posting my Ubuntu based version of this list shortly. But if you have any other apps you cannot live without then feel free to post a comment!
