Closeup Filters For DSLR’s
Well I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents worth about these type of filters…
I have been using my Nikon DSLR for approx 9 months now and I love it… but sometimes it is difficult to get the level of detail I want from my standard 18-55mm AF-S lens.
This is where Macro comes into it, however a 105mm AF-S Micro (Macro) lens is approx £550 from Nikon… quite a lot of money for something that I don’t use all the time…
The answer? A Closeup filter set off eBay – £15 delivered.
These offer you +1, +2, +4 and +10 (Macro) magnification…
Using the +10 has been really really useful and does allow some incredible closeup photos to be taken…
It is worth noting however you do get some slight fringing around the edge because the filter is so thick, but if you take this into account then all becomes good…
Now I can get as close as about 1cm from my subject and still autofocus if I wish, however I always find better and more accurate results can be achieved when you flick over to manual focus and control the depth-of-field yourself…
