Well Ubuntu 10.04 is only a few days away now – this is an important release as it is the next LTS (long term support) version of Ubuntu.

Along with all the latest package updates – major improvements include:

Latest version of GNOME desktop UI

Default search engine in Firefox now Yahoo! – whyyyyyyy!

HAL is now able to be removed entirely from the boot process – meaning faster boot/suspend times

Likewise (Active Directory integration) has been overhauled and reworked

Improved NVIDIA driver support (binary) and new open source driver to replace NV driver in 9.10

Built-in integration with Twitter, identi.ca, Facebook, and other social networks with the MeMenu in the panel

New artwork and themes

Further development of Ubuntu One – Cloud Storage System

Launch of Ubuntu Music Store – integrates with Ubuntu One

So as you can see, there are a whole host of features just waiting to be explored and the KDE version that you can install if you so wish has also been updated to the latest KDE 4.4 SC release.

All fun, expect a full review within the next 2 weeks right here on JW.com!
