As always, Microsoft have done nothing new with their latest OS.
If, however, you like the snapping windows feature – which allows you to use a mouse gesture to move one screen to the left side of the screen and another screen to the right – then this is how that effect can be achieved in Compiz.
Hopefully you have Compiz installed – if not, you will need to do that first – for which there are many a guide and tutorial, just Google.
First things first, open up CompizConfig Settings Manager from System > Preferences.
Go down to Windows Management or search for “Grid”. Enable Grid.
Now you can use the arrow keys on your Keypad combined with Ctrl+Alt to move windows Left, Top, Right and Bottom – or use number 5 for full screen again.
You can alt and tab or super key and tab to get the next live or active window for speed. The only advantage Windows 7 has is that it’s assigned to a mouse gesture.
