Kinect vs Move

Battle of the consoles – always a great debate amongst tech enthusiasts, hardcore gamers and fanboys a like.

It seems that the success of Nintendo Wii’s concept of gaming has prompted both

Microsoft and Sony to get into the market.

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have a massive user base and each have their exclusive games and content. But as they both venture into the “motion” style of gaming – who do you think is going to win??

The core differences between Kinect and Move is that Playstation have adopted the handheld controllers, much like the Wii. However, the design isn’t ideal as they look like colour changing microphones or roll-ons!

With Kinect, there is no hand held devices. Every game you play will be with the motion of your entire body. Great concept for sport games, beat’em’ups or dance-alongs but an article over at techland raised some important points surrounding disability and “special” actions within games that assigned to buttons on the controllers. With Move, these factors aren’t an issue, and this may play a very important role in this console battle.

Personally, I’m a PS3 gamer, but the Xbox seems to have so many features that Playstation are lacking. Stating that, for the time being, PSN players do not have to pay subscription fees to play online (yet). So the prospect of both consoles moving into this new style of gaming does intrigue and excite me. However, I do see PS3 keeping that “edge”.

What are your thoughts? Please post them below and I may add your pros and cons into this article. :)

  1. Personally I think that the PS3 is going about things the right way, but I feel the hardware Microsoft is using is better. But only time will tell. The other thing that may swing this type of gaming is the store access. Microsoft has a top notch store, with excellent content, updated often. PSN is still lacking behind somewhat here, but time should improve this. Here’s hoping!
