The saga continues – Many websites are becoming Flash 10 dependent, which is rendering my previous workaround useless:

It seems corporations like Adobe, Google and Apple are not as environmentally friendly as we would hope – as their answers to the Flash 10 support for PPC question is, basically, UPGRADE! Out with the old, in with the new.
Not ideal when the Powerbook is functioning perfectly well on everything else BUT Flash! Plus considering the cost of such a venture, just to work YouTube smoothly.
So why not consider – a life without flash?????? Read on….

A faster, smarter DNS service

For those of you that are more technically minded amongst our readers you will already know what DNS is – for those of you that don’t it is what is known as a “Domain Naming Service”.
Effectively what this does is allow humans to type in www.john-willis.com for example into their web browsers. The computer cannot understand where to get this from as computers work best with numbers, this is where the DNS servers come into play. They convert the human readable name to a number which without the service would be impossible for humans to remember (for example 92.35.234.18)

If you ever need to get an “extract” of installed applications on a Windows machine – then of course there is always more than one way to skin a cat!

In a bid to make the site more interactive I have now added the following functionality to the site:
- Article rating now available for all users
- Contact form added to site via “Feedback” link at top of the site
- Related posts will now be shown when you are viewing a single article
- More dynamic social networking features (you can now tweet, blog, Facebook, etc from within the posts)
All this will hopefully make the site more user friendly and make it easier to share things you find useful with others.

Mobile Computing… the way forward

If you in the market for a new mobile internet device chances are you’ve come across 3 big competitors – the iPhone, iPad (early May) or a Net book.
All 3 devices are available for a similar price point (varying on specification of course). But most importantly is there a market for all these devices?
